breaking news on c television's on the receiving end of violence and the standoff with guards on a bus explosion hit the center of the israeli city of wanting more than a dozen hamas reportedly claimed responsibility. meanwhile the guards are the body count rises to more than one hundred forty as shelling of the trip continues with more destruction and civilian that. but the truth remains elusive would be politicians accusing israel of stalling the ceasefire. was that you are splendors to work full come between the warring sides we'll look at why washington showed sympathy for innocent civilians being killed in some parts of the middle east but not so much in other words.
6:01 am
this is coming to life from moscow hello and welcome to the show and we start with breaking news this hour a suspected terror attack has rocked central tel aviv leaving more than a dozen people injured in a bus explosion and let's now get the latest from paula it's clear she's in tel aviv at the moment hello paula a lot of uncertainty here with some sources saying turn people have been injured some say as many as twenty reports say it happened near army headquarters so update us on what's happening in tel aviv right now. while the bus explosion happened around twenty minutes ago not far from our offices here in tel aviv we have constantly been hearing the ambulances screeching past there are police helicopters hovering in the area and that all the streets around here have been cordoned off
6:02 am
now the figures we have are that sixteen people been have. injured these are figures that were released to us by the nearby hospital all of these two are in a serious but not life threatening situation and three are in a moderate state there is a manhunt underway for at least two people the information we're receiving is that a person placed a bomb inside a bag either on the bus or near the bus and then ran away with the second person so there must. be more than that. shane we lost connection with paula but we do promise to to bring her back as soon as possible meanwhile israel has been bombed into gaza intensified over night despite talk of a pending cease fire the number of palestinians killed in the weeklong offensive now exceeds one hundred forty most of the victims believed to be civilians those trying to report the conflict to the outside world are also being one bought it as journalist harry fear explains from within gaza. israel has intensified the pounding of gaza. and. particularly the targeting of governmental police
6:03 am
buildings and. police station was totally leveled causing structural damage to. buildings some of the biggest governmental structures in gaza city were targeted including the biggest civil service building here in gaza. in the southern area of the gaza strip was targeted heavily overnight particularly the smuggling tunnels which gazans called the survival smuggling tunnels were almost totally destroyed last i continually being pounded with helicopters and f. sixteen s they were struck sixteen times last night israel killed three media workers. journalists two of them a cameraman for the t.v. channel another for the educational television channel and israel has admitted that it did deliberately target these civilians according to israel these stations that these media workers work for not legitimate journalistic enterprises and therefore
6:04 am
susceptible to being targeted gazans don't expect to see a ceasefire today they hope to see a cease fire yesterday but they don't expect to see it any time soon they remember all too well the operation cast lead and what's happened in the last twenty four hours resembles increasingly. the reports of white phosphorus destroying off the bridge that connects middle north gaza with the south of gaza the isolation of the south of gaza increasingly resembling an escalation akin to that operation into two thousand and nine. israel is not winding down its assault on gaza. and now we are able to bring back. the. reports about the blast in tel aviv just a while ago please tell us more about that. well the communication lines here keep dropping there's massive confusion and hysteria in terms of what has happened in the last twenty minutes or so there was a suicide bus bombing it happened just a short distance from where our studios are we constantly are hearing the
6:05 am
ambulances screeching past we can confirm that the figures released from a nearby hospital that has received all the victims stands at sixteen we're also hearing from the police that a manhunt is under way they searching for two people from the information they giving us they understand that one person placed a bag with a bomb either on the bus or near the bus and then ran away so the manhunt is looking for them all the roads in this area have been cordoned off there's a massive sense of hysteria and confusion this comes as peace talks are underway both here in israel and in cairo to try and reach some kind of agreement between israel and hamas and no doubt this is not going to torpedo those talks in fact the latest word from the israeli government before this bus bombing happened was that they were looking at a twenty four hour lull period to assess just how serious hamas was about negotiating a cease fire deal with israel and in this respect we are now hearing reports out of
6:06 am
gaza that there are celebrations and dancing as the news of the suicide bombing filters through in fact hamas allegedly has announced on loudspeakers in mosques in gaza that it is responsible for the suicide attack calling it a victory from god now if we are able to verify those reports it will indeed send out a message to people here in israel that hamas is not serious about any kind of peace and this then begs the big question as to whether or not and it's really a ground invasion into gaza is next. paula slater live thank you very much indeed paula. the sentiment is growing within a zero with some politicians going as far as calling for the era to be flattened like hiroshima israeli born political activists told us the country's rhetoric is becoming more cruel. we've seen. a good show on the son of the son of former prime minister ariel sharon. opinion article in the jerusalem post calling for genocide i
6:07 am
mean you know i think it's i agree just not just that he he wrote this article but one of the editors of of a distinguished newspaper in israel i mean albeit a. right wing newspaper but still and use the. newspaper that is part of the mainstream allowed him to to to air such opinions people in rwanda people in the former yugoslavia sent it to the hague you know after having every written words as cruel and inhumane. as the ones they're going to mr sharon has has written and i have to say it's like a certain individual politician here in their own very sad i'm ashamed to say that recent opinion polls were published in israeli newspapers i believe it recently have shown nearly ninety percent of the populace. in the country support its operation is in support but it is considered by many to be collateral damage. of
6:08 am
the of the killings of the children and women and the elderly. and life not to alex sell scathing funks parsippany israeli prime minister's office and this to alex thank you very much indeed for joining us here at we had from israeli officials that civilian deaths in gaza are inevitable collateral damage and this recent terror attack in tel aviv is that collateral damage so. well first of all i have to admit we don't target civilians israeli army targets on the terrorists but unfortunately we know we see of. the terrorists high behind civilians while they target our civilians you know when we unfortunately target civilians we see it as a failure but we see the risks from the hamas terrorists they target only civilians
6:09 am
and this see a victory when the innocent people but why don't you till that for twelve years already hamas terrorists fire rockets on our civilians on low on our civilians for the full time the israeli government decided that we have to stop these terror attacks in our civilians and our children and our elders and that's why we target and we must stop these attacks here and we really hope that there will no need for further eight army invasion we really hope that it will be done by diplomatic room itself scale of course you insist it's simply responding israel simply responding to attacks against hamas but let's take a look at some think it's more than seventy palestinian civilians killed in the past seven days whereas thirteen israelis have died in iraq rocket attacks actually from gaza since the last major israeli operation four years ago israel government's response disproportionate to. its definitely
6:10 am
big numbers and we do and we do know as i said that. continue hiding behind civilians so please if you think that it must stop so we call upon all the international community and we call upon everybody who really doesn't want this violence first of all to pressure on terrorist organizations to stop this violence and to call upon them not to use. civilians and then israel will stop any kind of operations because all we need is safety all we need. is peaceful life for our children and for ourselves we just want safety for us yes the world's online community is showing far more sympathy for the palestinians suffering in gaza in the past week than for the israeli assault that what does that tell you. well i think that the
6:11 am
international community should be sorry for any because all to and for any civilian but you know i have to admit we see including on your channel but you sure even know before these before my interview you showed the casualties in gaza but you didn't sure that yesterday we had a rocket fired on the building ok no terrorist activities in a building in the center of israel these are just peaceful people that live there and watch t.v. ok and what what we do we fire rockets on terrorists on their weapons unfortunately we know the term us here it's hide weapons within schools hire weapons under hospitals hide weapons and fire their rockets from houses will lead them straight out of it and of and then i'm sure there is will not be casualty of pants of us but we are just talking about your disorder disproportionate response because why does
6:12 am
israel persist with such heavy blanket bombardment killing women and children when you last attempt like this to wipe out hamas in two thousand and nine got you globally condemned and have and stop rocket attacks on your tech. we have been suffering for twelve years of rockets on our towns in cities on our schools on our children do you think book russia or united states or britain or france. how they would act if they will have rockets fired on their civilians every day would they have some heart operation against terrorists in order to stop it that's what we do and if hamas want not to have civilian casualties let them stop hiding behind civilians let them stop targeting our civilians yes but soon why not he is your sophisticated defense techniques your praised. from attacks instead of
6:13 am
a bloodbath that's affecting civilians more than those you are trying to target. that's what we do but please see the pictures see the hamas fires rockets from buildings from apartments from schools what you want us to do when someone will fall on you on your children from a house believe me israel does everything not to hurt civilians you know but we we all the time speak on their radio and our airplanes all the time. hands you know letters for the seaview and in arabic to ask them please go away from the terrorists police go way from the weapon of hamas and nobody will hurt and even here i call upon the civilians please don't be next to terrorists don't let the use you and then will be hurt and there is a lesser time and also some silly to use fake pictures in just one moment you also
6:14 am
know and we see on facebook and in during the terrorists use fake pictures that of people that were heard in syria and the show as if it was heard in gaza and sometimes they lie and they call upon you not to use ill love rides yesterday gaza citizens saw israeli leaflets asking them to leave the territory but these are a blockade of gaza has prevented civilians from building bomb shelters leaving residents was nowhere to hide joining us trikes hasn't it. so stop firing rockets on our children and it will be peace simple as that all right alex else get a spokesperson for the israeli prime minister's office thank you very much indeed for sharing your views with us thank you. well washington's almost
6:15 am
support for israel is raising doubts that the mediating mission is taking upon itself will bring unbiased results plus america's track record in selecting where to push for peace and protect civilians and helping as he is again and she can explain. the crisis in the middle east probably like no other crisis reveals the double speak of u.s. foreign policy the us basically gave a green light to any of their actions with regards to palestinians and israel has been taking advantage of that quite extensively because as president obama explained there is no country. would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens from outside its borders makes complete sense nobody should but one may ask what about all those countries that the u.s. has bombed iraq afghanistan pakistan yemen and others or is it that when you refer to civilian deaths as collateral damage somehow shooting civilians sounds more justified when it comes to the does a situation you usually hear u.s.
6:16 am
officials speak along these lines of course in a conflict like this the civilian casualties are inevitable but the u.s. is not always like that when the government was killing civilians the u.s. stood first to sympathize with the innocents there in most graphic terms but it appears in washington sympathy for software in ten be selected this is hillary clinton on syria the shooting death of a one year old recently by the syrian regime's tanks and troops. is a very stark example of what is going on. one may ask what about those horrible shots of children dying gaza is somehow a less stark example of what's going on it seems america's world police mindset and standing up for the weak thing doesn't apply to palestinians instead we hear the same mantra from u.s. officials that israel has the right to defend itself which effectively implies that in the eyes of washington the killing of civilians in gaza is justified the u.s.
6:17 am
is most recently blocked the u.n. security council statement calling for a cease fire in the israeli gaza conflict deeming the statement unbalanced against israel just as the u.s. has blocked all. other palestinian related un resolutions in the past whether it was on israel continuing to build settlements on occupied territories or other initiatives put forward to ease the years long suppression of the people there by blocking all efforts of the international community to mediate a solution in washington contributes to the status quo and the status quo here is that the root causes of the crisis have not been addressed and is the root causes remain any ceasefire looks temporary there was a major israeli assault on gaza four years ago to more than a thousand people did not solve the problem so one may argue the status quo almost guarantees that the cycle of violence will continue and will continue bringing you the latest from the middle east on and also online with

the killing of a fifteen year old to israel these are casual damage to us and to the gazan people these are. unacceptable murders ok greg how do you assess the situation there is a long one rumors of a cease fire in the air how do you think this is going to play out. i believe there's a cease fire that's expected to go on that then you'll see this is a show of hostilities and hopefully the result of peace negotiations however what you have to realize is that the reason why children are being killed is cause hamas is putting their military infrastructure next to schools next to community centers and next to neighborhoods with residential areas if they didn't put their rocket launching pads next to kindergartens there wouldn't be so many child who would be dying ok marine go ahead how would you reply to that it's always hamas is fault. outdated tired old propaganda you know murder and mayhem.
